Sustainability targets are easy to set but difficult to achieve. Businesses typically focus on making graphs go up, but with sustainability we need to shift our perspective: it’s all about a race to zero.

SUMMARY

We developed a game for CFOs to plot a strategic course to net-zero by 2050, whilst mitigating financial impacts. The experience is based around a simple game board and a set of strategic decarbonisation interventions participants can deploy over the course of the game.

We took a tactile approach to the game design, promoting participant engagement and interaction, and paired this with a decarbonisation game engine which allowed us to plot individual team’s decarbonisation performance in real-time on a central leaderboard, and promote healthy competition amongst participants.
